who taught you to not trust other people?

who taught you to dislike other people? who taught you to have an opinion about a place you have never been? who taught you to judge a whole country by a few people you met? do you even like everyone in your own country? does everyone there think like you?

no. so the problem was never them.

somebody taught you not to trust people from other places. but you trust them every day and you don’t even know it.

the phone you fight on was made in chicago. whatsapp was built by a poor immigrant whose family was on food stamps. your seatbelt was invented in sweden. they gave it away for free so people would stop dying in car crashes. the blood bank that can save your life was started by a black doctor.

people from other countries made the things that keep you alive. you use them all day. you never think twice.

so somebody lied to you. they said don’t trust the outsider. but you already do.

next time someone from another place tries to help you, or shows you a better way, don’t tell them to be quiet. listen. they might save your life.
